Verizon ThingSpace Ready Solutions from Sequans: Monarch Go, Monarch SiP, and Monarch GM01Q
May 22, 2020

Monarch Go is the newest Sequans LTE-M connectivity solution to become available via Verizon’s ThingSpace Ready IoT accelerator program. Monarch Go is unique in the industry in that it comes already certified by Verizon and goes way beyond the capabilities of a traditional module solution because it includes an already embedded and tuned LTE antenna and a Verizon ThingSpace IoT SIM.  We call it Monarch Go, because all you need to do is connect it to your IoT device and GO — it’s that easy.  It is the most comprehensive IoT solution available in the market today, saving designers months (or years) of design and certification effort and enabling the launch of new devices on Verizon in just minutes!  Monarch Go is a very smart choice for devices that are traditionally not connected — devices such as refrigerators or vending machines — and a very smart choice for IoT companies with little or no experience in cellular.  With Monarch Go, we make it easy for anyone to connect a device to the IoT via Verizon.  Monarch Go is also available with GPS.

Also available on ThingSpace is Monarch SiP (system-in-package), a joint solution of Sequans and Skyworks that combines the Monarch LTE-M/NB-IoT chip platform of Sequans with the universal, multi-band RF front end module of Skyworks.  Monarch SiP delivers the industry-leading ultra-low power consumption of Monarch and the ultra-small size (8.8 x 10.8 x 0.95 mm single chip package) enabled by the specialized packaging techniques of Skyworks.  It is truly a powerful solution for wearables or personal trackers or any other IoT device that requires an ultra-compact solution. Monarch SiP is 66% smaller in size (more than 50% thinner), and more than 90% better in power consumption than its nearest competitor, representing a level of performance unmatched anywhere in the world.

The third Sequans product available on ThingSpace is the Monarch GM01Q Module, which is an all-in-one, single-mode LTE-M and NB-IoT module with worldwide deployment and roaming capability. Monarch GM01Q comprises Sequans’ Monarch LTE-M/NB-IoT chip platform and all other elements necessary for a complete LTE modem system. These include an LTE-optimized transceiver, a complete Single SKU™ RF front-end to support LTE bands worldwide, and key interfaces, all in a single compact LGA package. Monarch GM01Q is certified by leading operators worldwide, including Verizon, AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, NTT Docomo, Orange, SoftBank, Sprint, Telstra, making it one of the most mature and proven LTE for IoT connectivity solutions in the entire world.

At the heart of all three of these important ThingSpace Ready IoT solutions is Sequans’ Monarch chip, the world’s most highly optimized LTE-M/NB-IoT chip platform with industry leading competitive advantages: Monarch is first in lower power consumption, drawing a mere 1 microamp in PSM (power saving mode). Monarch has a 23 dBm power amplifier that provides coverage two times better than competing solutions using only a 20 dBm power amplifier. The 3dBm power advantage is especially important at the cell edge and indoors, significantly reducing the need for re-transmissions, further enhancing battery life. Monarch can support all carrier frequencies between 699 and 2200 megahertz and features Sequans’ Single-SKU technology, enabling device makers to design once and deploy anywhere.
