Use Cases
Smart City – Smart Home – Consumer IoT – Supply Chain & Asset Management
An explosion of new IoT applications for smart city, smart home, supply chain management, and consumer applications and more are appearing in our world day by day. In our homes, we have smart lights, doorbells, and locks, and in our cities we are beginning to see smart street lights, air quality and traffic monitoring systems, pedestrian monitoring apps, connected scooters, bikes; and people out on the streets can be seen with smart watches, healthcare wearables, personal trackers and smart glasses. 4G and 5G are the best way to connect these IoT devices and Sequans delivers the chips and modules to make it happen — efficiently and reliably. In our use case videos you’ll learn how Sequans is meeting the needs of IoT device makers in these very active IoT application areas.

Monarch 2 GM02S For Massive IoT
Highly integrated LTE-M/NB-IoT Module Makes Inroads

Monarch 2 GM02S module delivers big on power consumption, efficiency, security, and cost. It is based on Sequans’ second generation Monarch 2 chip that delivers the industry’s lowest level of power consumption, enabling the ultra-long battery life that is essential for IoT devices. Monarch 2 GM02S also operates on ultra-low voltage, down to 2.2 volts, which allows for the use of standard, low-cost batteries and it supports an EAL5+ Secure Enclave for integrated SIM, an application CPU and an embedded voice processing engine. Monarch 2 GM02S has already obtained regulatory certifications, including PTCRB and GCF, in USA, Europe, and Japan. Tier-1 carrier certifications in USA and Japan are ongoing, along with regulatory certifications for Australia and UK.
Monarch 2 GM02S, and Monarch 2 GM02S NEKTAR evalution kits are currently available from Avnet, one of Sequans’ key distribution partners. Please visit Avnet to view Monarch 2 GM02S or Monarch 2 GM02S NEKTAR.
“We have selected Monarch 2 as the basis for our next generation of connected health solutions because we believe that Monarch 2 is the most advanced cellular LTE-M/NB-IoT connectivity technology available today. We are especially pleased with Monarch 2’s exceptionally low power consumption that enables extended battery life even using simple batteries, which makes devices easier to manage and encourages regular usage.”

MCU Partners – Connected MCU Solutions
Sequans is partnering with leading makers of sophisticated MCUs to offer solutions integrating microprocessor power with 5G IoT connectivity. The solutions are designed to make it easy for IoT device developers to quickly connect to any core or cloud and rapidly prototype their IoT devices using best-in-class technologies.
“With our MCU partners, we are creating a powerful development environment that enables the easy and rapid prototyping of IoT devices across a wide range of markets.”
Georges Karam, CEO, Sequans

“Our partnership with Sequans will expand our cellular IoT module offerings with 4G/5G cellular connectivity,” said Roger Wendelken, Senior Vice President, Head of MCU Business, IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit at Renesas. “Sequans has been a leader in IoT connectivity technology for many years and their Monarch technology delivers not only the industry’s lowest power consumption, but also reliability and security. This collaboration enables us to offer a new suite of IoT modules alongside our MCUs, delivering the advanced capabilities that meet the application needs of our IoT customers.”

“Sequans’ Monarch LTE-M/NB-IoT technology is an important part of our embedded IoT solutions strategy and our collaboration with Sequans helps to overcome the challenges developers face in connecting MCUs to the cloud via cellular IoT networks,” said Greg Robinson, associate vice president of marketing for Microchip’s 8-bit microcontroller business unit. “Sequans’ Monarch platforms provide critically important and advanced IoT capabilities, including industry-leading low power consumption, secure connectivity, and global deployment capability.”

“Sequans leadership is well-established and their LTE for IoT chip solutions are well-proven,” said Tom Pannell, senior director of marketing for connectivity solutions at NXP. “As LTE for IoT demand grows across our customer base, having a pre-integrated platform that enables device makers to easily add LTE-M or NB-IoT connectivity to their designs, will do much to drive the market. Combining the low power capabilities of Monarch and the high performance of LPC5500 series MCU results in a powerful solution for key market segments such as smart meters.”
