EZLinkLTE module, VZ20Q, supports Verizon Wireless
bands 4 and 13

PARIS – September 17, 2013 – 4G chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS) today announced that Verizon Wireless has certified its VZ20Q LTE module. The VZ20Q is based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE platform and is one of Sequans’ EZLinkLTE™ family of modules. The EZLinkLTE VZ20Q module was designed specifically for the network of Verizon Wireless.  It includes a complete dual-RF front end for LTE bands 4 and 13 and key interfaces in a single, compact package.

“The VZ20Q module significantly reduces development risk and time for our customers,” said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO.  “It is beneficial to all device designers and especially to those who want to add LTE connectivity to non-traditional devices, such as CE and machine-to-machine (M2M) devices, but who may not have particular wireless expertise. Basing a design on the pre-integrated and pre-certified VZ20Q solution ensures manufacturers that their products will operate on Verizon’s LTE network quickly and easily. The built-in dual-band support leverages the comprehensive coverage of Verizon’s band 13 LTE network as well as the performance benefits of the newer band 4 LTE network.”

The baseband chip at the heart of the new module is Sequans’ SQN3120 Mont Blanc chip. According to Sequans, the chip is compliant with 3GPP release 9 and it delivers category 4 throughput of up to 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink. Starting with the SQN3120 chip, the VZ20Q integrates all other elements necessary for a complete LTE modem system.  These include an LTE-optimized RF transceiver, a complete dual-band RF front-end for LTE bands 4 and 13, LP-DDR SDRAM, embedded boot Flash, and VC-TCXO, all in a single, surface-mountable package with a very compact footprint, 17 x 24 x 2 mm.
