PARIS, France and CUPERTINO, Calif. – April 9, 2008 – Sequans Communications, leading WiMAX chipmaker, has been awarded the WiMAX Forum Certified™ seal of approval for both its base station and subscriber station Mobile WiMAX 2.3 GHz reference designs. Sequans now has certified products for both Fixed and Mobile WiMAX, for both base station and subscriber station technology, and is the first and only WiMAX chipmaker to achieve this distinction.
“We are pleased to be among the first to achieve Mobile WiMAX certification,” said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. “Having some of the first certified products on the market now is a great accomplishment for us and the industry as it will propel the rapid deployment of Mobile WiMAX networks all over the world.”
Sequans products underwent rigorous and extensive protocol conformance, radio conformance and interoperability testing. Manufacturers using the newly certified Sequans technology to build Mobile WiMAX equipment and devices are assured of its high quality and ability to interoperate in any WiMAX network.
The Sequans WiMAX Forum Certified™ reference designs are based on the Sequans SQN1110 SOC for Mobile WiMAX mobile stations and SQN2130 ASIC for Mobile WiMAX base stations. The base station solution is the first and only ASIC-based solution in the market today.
“This 2.3 GHz certification milestone marks the beginning of the era of Mobile WiMAX, which is here to stay, and which will meet the growing world demand for internet access the way it was meant to be—fast and mobile,” said Karam. “Wave 2 certification is just around the corner, and we will also be there with certified referenced designs.”
