Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, announced that its leading edge Cinterion- CAT 1 LTE module has been certified by Verizon. (see the press release). The module is powered by Sequans’ Calliope LTE chipset, the world’s first Cat 1 (10 Mbps) LTE chipset solution optimized specifically for the design of devices with Category 1 (10 Mbps) bandwidth requirements, typical for many M2M and IoT applications. The Cinterion CAT 1 module offers device makers a highly efficient, cost-optimized LTE connectivity solution and fast time to market. The Gemalto miniaturized module is ideal for industrial IoT applications such as smart metering, tracking and tracing, and smart manufacturing applications that require a small footprint.
Sequans and Gemalto earlier established a partnership to integrate Sequans’ StreamliteLTE platforms, of which Calliope is one, into a family of wireless communications modules for the M2M and IoT markets. The new Cinterion CAT 1 module is the first module to come to market under this partnership agreement.
