Maximum MIMO performance
mimoMAX™, Sequans' patent-pending MIMO technology, delivers high throughput, superior receiver sensitivity, and low power consumption with no compromise of one for another.
Based on Sequans' unique algorithms, mimoMAX combines a true maximum-likelihood decoder on the downlink and two transmitters on the uplink, maximizing throughput and adapting to changing channel conditions. The superior receiver sensitivity increases the coverage of terminals (especially in buildings) and enhances system capacity for service providers. This translates into a better user experience and lower deployment costs for operators. Two transmitters on the uplink enable MIMO on both the uplink and on the downlink, further improving the link budget.
How does mimoMAX work?
At the heart of mimoMAX lies Sequans' MIMO decoding algorithm, which Sequans engineers have used for turning theoretical maximums into reality. mimoMAX implements a maximum-likelihood decoder (the best possible decoder according to Shannon's information theory) and makes it work in the industry's lowest power-consuming Mobile WiMAX chip, the SQN1130.
The maximum-likelihood decoder significantly outperforms other decoders such as zero-forcing, MMSE, and decision feedback decoders, and the algorithms Sequans has implemented enabling the maximum-likelihood decoder to work at all modulation levels, an industry first.
