Our mobile station solution
Setting the standard
Sequans has developed a mobile station system-on-chip (SOC) for WiMAX Forum Wave 1 and Wave 2 profiles.
Low power required by mobiles devices
The Wave 1 chip set a new standard when it hit the market with the lowest power consumption the industry had ever seen.
We quickly surpassed our own standard with the release of the Wave 2 chip, which not only reduced power consumption to
less than 280 mW, but also demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mobile WiMAX technology can meet the low power
requirements of battery-powered mobile devices.
mimoMAX™ for highest rerformance
The SQN1110 and SQN1130 are full MAC and PHY solutions, designed to comply with the IEEE 802.16e-2005 standards. The
SQN1130 delivers 2X2 MIMO (2 Tx and 2 Rx, Matrix A & B) and complete support for mobility. Sequans'
implementation of MIMO, mimoMAX™, is based on a unique, patent-pending Sequans algorithm. mimoMAX provides a true
maximum likelihood (ML) MIMO decoder on the downlink, enabling highest performance (sensitivity and throughput) yet fits
into a small, low-power chip. Our mimoMAX increases the capacity of the cell, the cell coverage, and the throughput to
individual users.
The SQN1130 is the only chip on the market delivering full 2X2 MIMO, exceeding the 1x2 MIMO requirements of the Wave 2 standard. 2X2 MIMO improves the overall link budget. It enables the use of lower-cost power amplifiers and increases diversity, improving performance over fading channels and relaxing the constraints of meeting spectral mask requirements.
Throughput that exceeds 30 mbps
The SQN1130 delivers a sustained throughput of more than 30 Mbps, very high by any standard. In addition Sequans has
demonstrated high throughput in all 4 categories of H-ARQ (Hybrid ARQ), attaining a maximum combined and sustained
throughput of 27 Mbps in Category 4. This total throughput was achieved at a single terminal, proving that operators can
deploy very high throughput services to end users with the extra robustness provided by H-ARQ.
Receiver sensitivity that's a step beyond
The SQN1130's superior receiver sensitivity, up to 13 dB higher than what is required by the WiMAX Forum Mobile
WiMAX Wave 2 profile, is a direct result of Sequans' experience with previous generations of its OFDM chips. This
sensitivity increases the link budget, extending cell coverage and improving indoor coverage.
