Benefits of the SQN2010 SoC
Advanced PHY layer
The SQN2010 delivers unique RF capabilities through a fully digital front end, integrating A/D and D/A converters, operating with any channel width from 1.25 to 28 MHz. It enables superior RF performance through advanced Digital Signal Processing techniques:
- Very low implementation margin
- Full uplink subchannelization with up to 16 concurrent bursts
- Built-in support for smart antennas:
Transmit diversity with space time coding (STC)
Receive diversity with maximum ratio combining (MRC)
Powerful MAC Layer with Advanced QoS
The SQN2010 includes a powerful MAC layer optimally partitioned between hardware and software. The
software runs on two embedded processors providing fl exibility, while the MAC hardware acceleration enhances
system performance and throughput.
The MAC supports many options that increase system capacity and services capabilities, such as Payload
Header Suppression (PHS), Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ), multicast polling and advanced packet
classifi cation. Its QoS features guarantee system performance for real-time and non-real-time applications.
Full Software Package
Sequans delivers a full software package, comprised of hardware drivers, as well as MAC and scheduling
functions. The software is modular allowing system vendors to reuse their existing software modules and
expertise to differentiate their product offering, while still leveraging the performance and time to market
advantages offered by the Sequans’ modules. The software can be easily integrated with high-level software
applications using well defi ned API.
Low Cost and Low Power
The SQN2010’s density and built-in dynamic power optimization techniques enable low-cost and low-power
baseband solutions. Sequans designed its technology for high-end Base Stations targeting high capacity,
scalable and feature-rich systems, as well as micro Base Stations with strong constraints on cost and power
consumption.
Base Station Reference Design
For customers wishing to evaluate Sequans’ technology as well as to initiate their own system development the
SQN2010-RD is a complete reference design based on the SQN2010 SoC. It includes drivers, MAC software
modules and hardware material: PCB with RF functions, SoC, memory, power supply, Ethernet and PCI ports.
