AirWire LTE Wi-Fi dongle on display at Mobile World Congress
BARCELONA, Spain – February 19, 2014 – A new LTE consumer device powered by Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS) and built by Pinyon Technologies, a global supplier of next generation mobile data products, will be on display at Mobile World Congress in Sequans stand in hall 7, number 7D76. The new device, the AirWire LTE Wi-Fi dongle, is based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE Platform and is the first of several LTE devices Pinyon is planning to design and build based on Sequans’ technology. According to Pinyon, the first version of the AirWire LTE Wi-Fi dongle is designed for the Indian market and expected to deploy in India in late 2014.
The AirWire LTE Wi-Fi dongle (which resembles a flip style mobile phone) provides Internet connectivity via its built-in Wi-Fi hotspot or USB connection. The dongle operates standalone, enabling multiple devices to connect simultaneously. Laptops, gaming consoles, tablets and all other Wi-Fi devices can now access the Internet anywhere through AirWire’s integrated LTE network connectivity. The AirWire LTE Wi-Fi dongle can be connected directly to a computer through the USB port, enabling LTE data speeds of 100 Mbps into a connected device. It supports LTE-TDD, with future versions supporting LTE-FDD. Wi-Fi support covers 802.11 b/g/n, conveniently covering all Wi-Fi devices.
The AirWire Wi-Fi dongle is based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE Platform. Mont Blanc comprises Sequans’ baseband SOC and LTE-optimized transceiver, an integrated network and application CPU, a comprehensive software package, and reference designs. Mont Blanc is a member of Sequans’ StreamrichLTE family of products for high performance, feature-rich LTE devices.
