REDLINE AND SEQUANS DEMONSTRATE INTEROPERABLE MOBILE WIMAX PRODUCTS AT WIMAX WORLD EUROPE
Live demonstration features Redline’s RedMAX 4C subscriber unit equipped with Sequans 802.16e-2005
VIENNA, AUSTRIA (May 31, 2007) — Redline Communications, a leading provider of standards-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure products, and Sequans, a leading supplier and developer of fixed and mobile WiMAX semiconductor solutions, demonstrated interoperability among WiMAX products based on the companies’ 802.16e-1005 mobile WiMAX platforms in Austria this week.
The live demonstration features Redline’s new RedMAX 4C base station, and its customer premise equipment which incorporates Sequans’ 802.16e-2005 solutions, is taking place at WiMAX World Europe in Vienna, Austria, from May 30 to 31, 2007 at the Redline booth (#405).
The joint Redline and Sequans interoperability demonstration follows the recent WiMAX Forum PlugFest in Sophia Antipolis, France, which was designed to test 802.16e-2005-based WiMAX products for key mobility features including handover capabilities for mobile applications and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output), an intelligent antenna technology that delivers higher capacity and spectral efficiency.
“It is exhilarating to see one of the first Mobile WiMAX products based on the WiMAX Forum standards for its second wave of certification for 802.16e-2005 products appear in live public demonstrations,” said Bernard Aboussouan, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development at Sequans. “From availability of devices such as Redline’s RedMAX 4C, to the progress achieved by vendors in testing interoperability and advanced features such as MIMO, to the various frequency licensing activities around the world, it seems everything is falling in place for the market success of mobile WIMAX.”
“As a leader in true WiMAX technologies, Redline is focused on developing products that offer the capacity, performance and interoperability that carriers need for profitable WiMAX business models,” said Kevin Suitor, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Redline. “With the proven performance and reliability of our RedMAX products, Redline is recognized by carriers worldwide as a trusted provider of advanced WiMAX solutions for the deliver of broadband wireless voice, video and data services.”
Sequans’ chips for WiMAX mobile stations (SQN1110 and SQN1130) deliver advanced features and functionality, including the industry’s highest throughput and lowest power consumption. The SQN1130 Wave 2-ready MIMO chip, delivers more than 30 Mbps throughput while drawing less than 280 mW of power in active mode and less than 10 mW in idle mode.

RedMAX 4C Mobile WiMAX Platform
Redline’s new RedMAX 4C Mobile WiMAX family is designed to conform to the requirements for 802.16e Certification Wave 2, which is part of the WiMAX Forum’s official certification program for Mobile WiMAX. Supporting a high concentration of subscribers, it enables operators to realize a rapid return on their WiMAX investment, with a low total cost of ownership.
Operating in the 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz spectrum bands, the RedMAX 4C leverages Redline’s proven, field tested and optimized fourth-generation technologies for TDD (Time Division Duplexing)-based Scalable-OFDMA-based systems. It provides carriers with an all-IP system that incorporates open standards to provide carriers the flexibility to deliver fixed, portable and mobile services with WiMAX. RedMAX 4C also implements Predictive Scheduling, which minimizes overhead signaling to provide higher traffic capacity to subscribers by anticipating their traffic requirements and enabling carriers support high density networks. The new product family includes a modular, standardized µTCA (micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture) chassis base station that is small, lightweight and easy to deploy. RedMAX 4C will also include a suite of outdoor fixed and portable end-user devices including laptops, mobile handsets and PDAs.
Redline's RedMAX™ Family
The RedMAX 4C is the latest addition to Redline’s growing roster of WiMAX solutions. Redline's RedMAX family of WiMAX solutions is the world's first complete system to receive the WiMAX Forum Certified™ mark for conformance to the WiMAX standards for performance and interoperability, and is currently installed by carriers around the world to support commercial, revenue-generating WiMAX networks.
Redline's carrier-class RedMAX Base Station (AN-100U) supports voice, video, and prioritized data traffic, enabling long-range, high-capacity wireless broadband networks. Redline's WiMAX products also include the RedMAX Indoor Subscriber Unit (SU-I) and Outdoor Subscriber Unit (SU-O) designed for enterprise and residential services. The RedMAX Management Suite enables operators to monitor and control the network, ensuring high service availability. The exceptional performance, capacity, coverage and carrier-class scalability of RedMAX products are the result of Redline’s extensive OFDM technology development and deployment experience.
