SEQUANS SOLUTIONS ABOUND AT WIMAX FORUM PLUGFEST
October 10, 2006 — SEQUANS Communications, a leading supplier of fixed and mobile WiMAX semiconductor solutions, participated in last week's WiMAX Forum(tm) PlugFest at Bechtell Labs in Maryland, with its chips operating in both base station and subscriberstation equipment. The PlugFest provided an opportunity for 21 WiMAX companies to test interoperability of base stations and end user devices prior to entering the official WiMAX Forum certification process scheduled for later this year.
"We had great success, with both base station and subscriber station hardware using Sequans chips, by multiple vendors testing across several profiles,” said Bernard Aboussouan, Sequans vice president of business development and marketing. “The WiMAX Forum PlugFests are very valuable to the growth of the industry and this most recent event assured us of the maturity of our technology and its overall robustness. We were able to test interoperability with key equipment vendors, calibrate our success against competitors, and generally make sure our interpretation of the standard is consistent with the leading majority.”
During the PlugFest, products using Sequans chipsets were tested in frequency bands, 2.3, 2.5 and 5 GHz, and in channel sizes of 5, 8.75 and 10 MHz. Two of Sequans' customers, SOMA Networks and Airspan also participated with equipment based on Sequans chips.
