SEQUANS ANNOUNCES MOBILITY PRODUCT STRATEGY FOR WIRELESS BROADBAND ACCESS

Allows Equipment Manufacturers to Jump Start Design and Development of Solutions for Mobile WiMAX and WiBRO

BOSTON – October 26, 2005 — Sequans Communications, a fabless semiconductor company and leading supplier of silicon and software for broadband wireless access, today unveiled its mobility strategy. Sequans’ roll-out will allow equipment manufacturers to launch mobile WiMAX base stations and mobile devices as early as the second-half of 2006.

“With the imminent ratification of the IEEE 802.16e standard, and the capabilities and huge potential of mobile WiMAX, most wireless telecommunications equipment manufacturers and consumer devices manufacturers are eager to develop WiMAX enabled base stations, phones, PDAs, multi-media players or laptops,” explained Bernard Aboussouan, vice president of marketing and business development with Sequans. “With our product roll-out, manufacturers will have the necessary components, hardware and software platforms, to begin development today and be first to market.”

Sequans’ end-to-end WiMAX mobility solutions are designed to be compliant with WiBRO and the first system profile to be released by the WiMAX Forum before the end of 2005. The company’s solutions are flexible and can be upgraded as 802.16e evolves following ratification.

Sequans’ initial mobile WiMAX solutions will consist of the SQN1110, a small size, low power Subscriber Station System-on-Chip (SoC) suitable for mobile devices, the SQN2110, a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chipset for Base Stations, and S-cube, Sequans’ Software Solution. The solutions address the needs of equipment manufacturers designing mobile solutions as well as vendors planning to use IEEE 802.16e for fixed and nomadic applications.

Sequans’ customers can start development today, using Sequans’ developed software simulation environment. FPGA development kits will be available later this year, prior to the release of the SoC’s and FPGA product set, scheduled for the first-half of 2006.
